Sandra Becker, Senior Housing Counselor

1998-Present

Ms. Becker manages the Housing Counseling and Referral Service and the Family Self Sufficiency programs and acts as supervisor of the Housing Counselors and the Section 8 Family Self Sufficiency Coordinators. Ms. Becker brings to Belmont’s fifteen years of renter and home ownership experience.

In addition to her program administration and supervisory duties, Sandra Becker is primarily responsible for providing information typically associated with home ownership issues. She conducts seminars and counsels clients one-on one on a variety of housing issues, including pre-purchase home buying, & post- home ownership. She also counsels individuals and households on budgeting, credit issues, bank products, mortgage applications, and post-home ownership counseling such as HECM mortgages, rehabilitation programs and foreclosure prevention. Sandy, along with staff, facilitates the Home Maintenance/ Financial Management Classes. She identifies consumer loans that appear to be predatory and refers the file to the “Predatory Lending Task Force”, which she is co-chair.  Sandy represents the company and acts as guest speaker or panelist in various forums. These would include community events, such as housing fairs as well as HUD Sponsored events.

Ms. Becker also works with our Development Department providing home ownership opportunities which included subsidized new builds and rehabilitated homes sold with subsidies.
