Join us for workshops, lectures, discussions, classes and retreats that will present scientific, philosophical and spiritual perspectives on holistic health, wellness and well being.
Please note that all events must be registered for in advance. Registration begins January 20th.
Thursday Evening Lecture Series
The Thursday Evening Lecture Series explores the mind-body-spirit-earth paradigm of personal and universal health and well-being. Free to Daemen Community. All others $10 per lecture. Lectures are located in the Business and Commerce Building, Room 107/109.
February 9 Introduction to Bach Flowers – Linda Cortese, Holistic Energy Dynamics
Learn how Bach Flower Essences are used to treat individuals with specific emotional and mental states. Many of us go through times of difficulty and fatigue when negativity creeps in; at these times the Essences are invaluable in restoring the balance before physical symptoms appear. The Bach Essences are very effective with our babies, pets, and other animals, as well as helping people with little faith who try them as a last resort.
April 20 A Vegetarian Lifestyle – Maria R. Weber, Maria R. Weber, MS, RD, CDN / Medical Nutrition Therapist & Certified Fitness Instructor, ACTIVE NUTRITION
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian eating styles can be healthful. Studies show a positive link between vegetarian eating and improved health including disease prevention, especially heart disease, hypertension, adult-onset diabetes, obesity and some forms of cancer.
Understand what a vegetarian eating plan is and does, including the different types of vegetarian eating plans, the challenges you may face and how to avoid nutritional deficiencies. Learn how to make the switch healthfully, whether you choose to go completely vegetarian or just want to cut back on animal protein to include more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and non-animal proteins.
Saturday Morning Workshops Several times each semester Saturday Morning Workshops are offered introducing techniques to enhance personal health and wellbeing. These sessions combine lecture with hands-on instruction.
Attendance is limited to 20. Free to Daemen community. All others $15 per workshop. Please dress comfortably.

Discover the science of Iridology - it's origin, what it is, how it works, major iris signs and markings, and how iridology is used to help you obtain better health naturally. Truly an "eye opening" experience.

Qi Gong Healing Method with Parize Michaud Tues, March 28-May 2 9:15-11:20 am Cost: $125 (12.5 hrs)
This class will provide an introduction to the practice of one branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the healing art of Qigong. This art form utilizes various movement exercises, self-massage and meditations. Origins and techniques will be discussed and practiced along with an overview of scientific inquiry regarding performance effects on the physical body and mind as it relates to health.

Herbal Studies with Rafaella Marcantonio, ND Wed, Jan 25-May 3 5:30 pm – 8:15 pm Cost:$375 (37.5 hrs)
This course will explore ways that herbs and herbal remedies have traditionally been used in the Western and Eastern societies. Explore the philosophy of botanical medicine and distinct nutritional and therapeutic benefits that herbs can offer. Learn the fundamentals of preparing and prescribing herbs for health. Utilize the therapeutic applications of herbs and other botanical substances, such as roots; leaves, bark or berries of plants will be discussed. The forms of commonly used botanical preparations will be presented through tablets, capsules, teas, lozenges, or poultices, extracts, which are sold over-the-counter in health food stores, pharmacies and physician’s offices.

The Awakened Healer: An Experiential Seminar with Devi Tide
